tips and tools: diy handmade stamped labels
As a crafter, I enjoy the process of making something from start to finish. So it makes sense to brand and attach a unique label to my handiwork. Here’s an easy way to create your own custom, handmade stamped labels to attach to your sewn or knitted garments.
what you will need:
- Custom Rubber Stamp
- Textile Ink Stamp Pad
- .5″ Polyester Twill Tape
- Sewing Needle
- Sewing Thread
what you will need to do:
- Get a custom rubber stamp made online (I used this company). You can upload a logo or image and choose from a variety of stamp sizes. Just make sure the height of the stamps is smaller than the twill tape.
- Practice stamping on a blank sheet of paper before stamping on twill tape. Leave space on either side of the stamp.
- Trim the sides of the twill tape with scissors and with a lighter, slightly melt the ends to prevent fraying. Be extra careful when using a lighter and keep away from children.
- Fold the edges of the twill tape and use small straight stitches with sewing thread to attach it to your garment(s). The label can be placed horizontally on the inside or vertically on the outside.
