welcome our new goodsmiths blogger, lori!

Hello Kindred Spirits!

This is Lori, and I am so thrilled to join the Goodsmith’s team as a blogger. I was born and raised in Des Moines, spent summers on Grandma’s  farm in Earlham, Iowa and now reside in Troy, Michigan with my hubby, Chas; teenage son, Colin; and two fat cats. I am getting back to my creative, innovative roots and could not be happier.

My first love is sewing — right from the moment I begged my mom to teach me at age 11. I still have my first outfit, a lovely red plaid double knit pantsuit! These days I like to quilt, crochet, embroider and sew smaller gift and craft projects. I enjoy both machine and handwork and have five different sewing machines. I know, I know, time to stop. I enjoy learning about sewing and craft trends and trying new techniques, which I hope to share with you.

I recently left the corporate world with a background in information technology, so I plan to draw on that experience as well to share tips and hints with you. There is always something new to learn and try and the Internet is an unending source of inspiration.

When I am not sewing, I am tending to my small gardens and cooking. I have a terrific herb garden, and you just have to have fresh green beans and tomatoes in the summer. For sweet corn, well that requires a visit home to Des Moines to see my Mom and get the good stuff.

I will be sharing with you DIY, craft, sewing, gift, garden, and related musings in my blog. I have too many ideas to just narrow it down. And, I am interested in what YOU are working on and what is inspiring you to create and express yourself.
