Essential Oil and Tea At-Home Steam Facial
Essential Oil and Tea At-Home Steam Facial
I have recently become obsessed with doing “at home beauty days/moments”. Taking a little time for yourself can make a huge difference for your day or week. We all need a little TLC every now and then, right?! We can all probably agree that we find ourselves dreaming of a spa day…but dishing out that kind of cash isn’t always in the budget! So…here you have it, a simple and easy way to get your face feeling moisturized and glowing again from your own kitchen. Keep in mind, I am not a professional esthetician, but have read about at home steam facials and the contents I have included in it.
I think the best day to do this steam facial would be a day where you don’t need to put any makeup on to make sure your pores stay makeup free for the day (or at least a few hours after doing your facial). While doing your steam facial, your pores will open and breathe (which is why you will want to wait to put makeup on). Your skin will also absorb the moisture from the essential oils and steam, which will give your face a new-found glow.
Okay…before we get to the steps…you will be dealing with VERY HOT water. So please be cautious and careful when dealing with it. If you feel like your face is getting too warm/hot, please back away from the bowl for a few moments and reposition yourself further away from the water/steam.
Now, without further ado. What you will need:
- 1 Large Towel
- 1 Sauce Pan
- 1 Bag of Green Tea (I have also used a peppermint tea before when I had sinus problems, worked like a charm to help clear me up!)
- 1 Spoonful of Olive Oil
- 1 Spoonful of Coconut Oil
- 1 Large Bowl
- Note: The oils I chose are the only two I had in my house, that I use often for my skin care. I’m sure you could add other essential oils, but you may want to research that before adding.
What you will need to do:
- Fill your sauce pan with water.
- Add a spoonful of your olive oil and another spoonful of your coconut oil.

- Bring water to a boil on your stove. Once it is boiling, turn off your stove.
- Add your tea bag to the hot water in the sauce pan. Let the tea steep for a few minutes. Then remove the tea bag from the water.

- Transfer the hot water from your sauce pan to your large bowl. (BE CAREFUL!)

- Once your bowl is full of the hot, tea and oil filled water, take it to your kitchen table.
- Once the bowl is securely sitting on your kitchen table, take your towel and drap it over the back of your head and slowly approach the steaming water in the bowl. The towel will keep and direct the steam near your face.

- Rest and relax over the steaming water and let the steam, oils and tea work their magic for 5-10 minutes. As I said before, if you feel like your face is getting too warm/hot, please back away from the bowl for a few moments and reposition yourself further away from the water/steam.
- Once you have finished, take your towel and dab off the remaining water off your skin.
- I then take a little of the coconut oil to further moisturize my skin for the day. Scared of the thought of coconut oil on your face? Don’t be! Click here to find out all the great ways you can use coconut oil!

- Now, enjoy your glowing skin and the money you have saved by doing it yourself!

Hum…. I am a senior citizen but it’s never too late, right? I may try this!!
