Easy and Cheap Spring Decor
Since spring has sprung and summer is right around the corner, this is the time of year I like to bring the outside indoors and the indoors outside. One of my favorite, easiest and cheapest ways to do this is by rummaging through cabinets and walking around outside.
Here are the items you will need:
- Mason Jars, glass bottles, and glass containers
- Rocks from my driveway
- Sticks
- Candles I found in a closet
- Greenery from the Dollar Store
- Spray Paint I found in the garage
All three ideas can be made for less than a $1.50!
The first option, shown above, is very simple. I found four mason jars and a large glass container. If you do not have these items at home you can purchase at thrift stores for literally .25-.50 cents a piece, but if you don’t have time Target or Wal-Mart will have something similar. I filled the mason jars with rocks on the bottom and simply put a tea candle in each. In the large container I filled it 3/4 the way full of rocks and placed a house plant in the center. I added this large container to add height and texture. It is always best to decorate with an odd number and different heights and dimensions.
This arrangement took no time to put together. I collected sticks and rocks from outside my house, found a glass water jar I had in a cupboard and purchased a few bunches of pussy willows from the Dollar Store. I placed rocks in the bottom portion of the jar and placed the sticks and pussy willows around the rocks. This arrangement gives you great texture, dimensions and natural colors. To add to the area I added some tea light candles. If you like the white birch look for sticks and do not have any around, take white spray paint and lightly paint them. This will add a bit more color contrast to this simple spring arrangement.
This final arrangement is something EVERYONE can do. It is simply an empty glass beer bottle spray painted and then I placed a twig of pussy willows. You could substitute the pussy willows with flowers, berries, sticks, etc.
