Chalkboards for Your Everyday Life!
Chalkboards for your everyday life!
Chalkboards have been around for what seems like forever. Chalkboards were used to teach and to learn and will always be an iconic staple in our minds. Teachers for centuries were writing with chalk covered hands, having to bang their erasers clean, and could use the chalkboard and their nails as a way to get quick, ear-piercing attention from a classroom. Although, recent generations of kids may not know what it was like to always learn from a true chalkboard…they may recognize it from new revamped uses. It seems like to me, in the past few years there has been a new push to bring back the chalkboard in fun and innovative ways as you can see below. I personally have a small chalkboard hanging in my kitchen to write reminders, what’s on the menu for parties, or inspirational quotes for the week. I can’t imagine not having it hanging in my kitchen!
I was able to get these great ideas and pictures from a beautiful and creative momma of four kids, who puts her chalkboards to great use all around her home. I love the creative, purposeful, and artful personal touches that every chalkboard holds. You can see more of her creative ideas at http://starrfam.blogspot.com.
What a great way to use chalkboard paint. As you can see, this Mom took advantage of their stairs for the kids to create art and to display their summer “bucket list”! What a great way to keep the kids excited during the summer months at home!
Have an old frame you could hang near your door? This is a creative way to write daily reminders for your kids before they head out the door. Remember to hang it so the kids can easily read it!
Can never remember what dosages your kids take for each medication? This is a great way to display that information, especially if you have someone else at home watching your kids. I think this would also be a great way to track fevers, symptoms, you name it.
You can easily turn an old window frame into a fun wall calendar for your home. If plans change, an easy swipe to the board and your day can be updated with the whole family knowing what the day holds!
Have you ever heard a kid say “I’m Bored!”? Let’s face it, we all get a little bored sometimes! So, when your kids just can’t figure out what to do with their boredom…help them out with a fun jar to go to, full of easy and fun ideas.
As you can see, your options are almost endless with the use of chalkboard paint, and chalkboard stickers. It’s a great, inexpensive way to stay inspirational and organized. Do you use chalkboards in your home? If so, how do you use yours?

I recently saw another way to use a blackboard. An older man we know passed away and in his store front window was a big chalkboard and someone had written on it how he would like to be remembered. It was so amazing!
